Preserving History While Breaking Up a Driveway
I remember walking the property with the homeowners near their 1930s Tudor. They needed their failing concrete driveway replaced, but the crew was worried about damaging the vintage brick walkways with heavy equipment. The old, brittle pavers were already cracked in spots. One wrong move could've turned a simple dumpster drop into a costly restoration project before they'd even started.
Our crew walked the site with me, mapping out the precise path for our smaller, maneuverable truck. We used plywood and planks to protect the bricks during delivery and placement. The driver took it slow, and we had that 10-yard concrete dumpster exactly where they needed it within an hour. They broke up the old slab and loaded it without a scratch on the historic landscape.
Frank's team made the whole messy part disappear without touching a single one of our old bricks.
