Protecting Vintage Concrete
Renovating a 1925 Craftsman in the Upper Bluff district usually means dealing with narrow driveways and fragile infrastructure. We arrived at a job site on Buell Avenue where the homeowner needed to gut a plaster-heavy second floor. The main concern wasn't just the volume of debris, but protecting the original ribbon driveway that couldn't handle a standard 30-yard truck's weight.
I sent our lighter hook-lift truck that allows for precise placement without slamming the bin down. We laid down thick protective boards to disperse the pressure and backed the 20-yarder right up to the side door. The debris went straight in, and we hauled it away two days later leaving the historic concrete completely untouched.
Frank placed the bin perfectly on our old driveway without causing a single crack.
